Complete Anatomy Colouring Book Part 2

The next part of the colouring book featured the spinal cord and spinal nerves.

Again, you can see that I've used the crayola pencils to create a bright, colourful schematic to help me identify which parts are which.

Complete Anatomy Colouring Book Part 1

Although it has been a while since I did an adult colouring update, hopefully you can remember that it became one of my new obsessions a couple Christmas' ago! I've since added a couple more colouring books to my collection, although I have struggled to find time to do one.

For a secret santa Christmas present at university this year, I was gifted the Complete Anatomy Colouring Book and I love it - I can enjoy colouring, whilst classing it as revision!

This is the first page of that book, covering the organisation of the autonomic nervous system. As you can see, I used my bright Crayola pencils to colour it in with a colour schematic to help me remember which functions are controlled by which nerves.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Magical Creatures Colouring Book Part 1

Although it has been a while since I last uploaded any colouring pictures, I am definitely still a fan. However, I struggle to find time to do much to be honest.

I recently picked up the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Magical Creatures colouring book as I loved the film! Plus the pictures in this book are amazing.

Although just the title page, this was a nice one to colour in, especially the Mooncalf in the corner. It was a simple yet fun way to get stuck in to the book.

I used some of my metallic colouring pencils and my Faber Castells.

Harry Potter Colouring Book Part 2

I won't lie, I've been bitten by the adult colouring bug and seriously infected. I love it!
As someone with depression and anxiety, colouring gives me a break and a distraction. Plus it's quite a nice break from A-levels too.
I bought a nice pack of Faber Castell eco-pencils recently. I really recommend buying them from Staples as the 36 pack cost me less than £5!
So here is my next piece from the beautiful Harry Potter book. I shall hopefully be getting my hands on the new Harry Potter one soon too.
The background of this picture was done with Crayola pencils. They are cheap, yet give beautifully bright colours. The rest was done with my lovely new Faber Castells that are so smooth to colour with, and blend brilliantly. I am super happy with them!
I'd love to hear some feedback!

Enchanted Forest Postcards Part 2

I've recently been working on the second page of the Enchanted Forest Postcards I received for Christmas.
I will admit that I'm not hugely fond of the finished piece, but I am glad I stuck with it and got it finished.
This was done entirely with Staedtler Triplus Fineliners. I picked a set of these pens up from Tesco to use just for colouring, as my Stabilo pens are primarily for schoolwork, and I absolutely love them! They are fine enough for all the small details, yet colour in large areas fairly well. I don't know whether it's because of the pens, card used in this book, or a combination of both, but they run smoothly across the card.

All the colours used
Again, if anyone has any questions, tips or any comments at all, I'd love to hear from you!

Harry Potter Colouring Book Part 1

Like thousands of people across the world, I was absolutely devastated to hear of Alan Rickman's death yesterday. He was an acting icon and, by all accounts from those lucky enough to know him, a wonderful man. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans during this hard time.
His biggest impact on my life, like many, was his perfect portrayal of Snape. Whilst I have watched a number of his films, as a Potterhead, his acting as one of my favourite characters in one of my favourite film series is what I will predominantly remember him for.
Hearing of his sad passing led to me finally finishing the first page in the Harry Potter Colouring Book. I did this piece with a variety of pencils. Mostly I used a set of metallic pencils, which the photo doesn't give credit to. They produce bright, shiny colours that compliment the picture perfectly. I also used a few cheap pencils I have, along with a couple Crayola pencils, which I love! They are so easy to work with and produce lovely colours.
Again, if anyone has any tips or questions, feel free to comment.

Enchanted Forest Postcards Part 1

For Christmas, I was lucky enough to receive the beautiful Enchanted Forest Postcards by Johanna Basford. I'm entirely new to adult colouring and, although apprehensive of it at first (I believed it was highly overrated), I now have to admit I was wrong! I'm hooked, and it has really helped me relax.
Because of this, I'm going to publish any colourings I finish, and I would love to hear if any of you are colourers too!
All the pens and pencils I used are in the photo. The majority of it was done using Stabilo fineliners. I used a couple metallic pencils on the gate and around the flames, and all the gold on the gate is done using a gel pen I found on my desk. I also used a standard pencil for some of the rocks and the gate.
The only problem with this book, is that some of the details are nearly impossibly small, and that's coming from a 17-year-old with perfect vision!
Please feel free to comment any tips, or to ask about anything!

Christmas Book Haul

Firstly, I want to wish a very Merry (belated) Christmas to you all!

This Christmas, I was lucky enough to get many fantastic gifts from all my family, but to save boring you, I shall just stick to the books I received. However, I shall briefly mention a fantastic sort-of Christmas present. Just before Christmas, I received an offer to study medicine at Plymouth university!

~The books I received for Christmas~

1) Eragon's Guide to Alagaesia  by Christopher Paolini

Although I've only read the first two books of The Inheritance Cycle (the other two       remain on my ever increasing TBR shelf), I am a huge fan of the world Paolini has created. I saw this at a Garden Centre in Autumn and so got my parents to put it back for Christmas.

2) Illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling

Initially, I wasn't that sold on the idea of my favourite book series being illustrated. I enjoy the magic of using your imagination to picture the story, and was worried that the images would make me feel as if my version was 'wrong'. However, as soon as I saw the book itself, it instantly became one of my presents from my grandparents.

3) Wars of the Roses: Bloodline by Conn Iggulden

Although I wasn't a huge fan of the first in the series, as you can see from my review here, I absolutely loved the second book, Trinity. Because of this, Bloodline was a must-have Christmas present and again was a book I chose for my parents to give to me.

4) Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

I'm a big fan of the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, and all his other series have been on my to-buy-to-be-read list for ages. I'm also a huge Thor fan and, because of that, I have wanted to delve into Norse mythology a little more. When I stumbled across this book, especially a signed edition, I knew I had to have it!
I've actually started this one already and so far, I love it! It even has a special dedication to one of my favourite authors Cassandra Clare regarding the name Magnus. Also, it has a small appearance from one of my favourite characters from the Percy Jackson series too.

5) The Company of the Dead by David Kowalski

Growing up, I had a fascination of the Titanic, which probably rubbed off from my brother who loved it. This was a cover buy late this year, which ended up being put back for Christmas. I look forward to reading it!

6) The Kane Chronicles

As previously mentioned, all of Riordan's books have been on my TBR list for a while now, so The Kane Chronicles was one of the series that made it's way onto my Christmas wishlist for my family to choose presents from. Despite the fact I knew I could end up with the series as a present, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they had found a nice hardback box-set of the trilogy.

7) The Copper Gauntlet by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

I really enjoyed the first of the Magisterium books so The Copper Gauntlet also made its way onto my wishlist this year. It was a good book, proven by the fact I've already read it. Find the review here!

8) The Enchanted Forest Postcards by Johanna Basford

At first I was sceptical of the new trend: adult colouring. Growing up, I found the task boring and repetitive, always preferring to do things more mentally active such as reading or doing puzzles or jigsaws. However, I did warm to the idea as I heard a lot of good things about how relaxing it is.
As some studying six A-levels whilst battling depression and anxiety, as you can imagine I find it quite hard to relax most of the time. My family took this into consideration, along with my occasional mention of these adult colouring books, and bought me one as a surprise Christmas present.
So far, I've only done a little, but I am really loving it! I've bought some new pens and pencils to keep with it, and I am thoroughly enjoying spending a few minutes here and there colouring to take a break from everything else. I really recommend it to anyone who finds it hard to relax for any reason, especially the postcard sets as they are much smaller and less daunting than a huge, blank page needing to be coloured. They can also fit in your bag so you can take it with you on the go. The only downside is that some bits are extremely tiny and fiddly, but that only makes it more fun!
